On The occasion of the Model Event, you will discover the listed site of the Bouillouses.
You will find an altitude environment made of lakes, forests of resinous trees, granitic block fields, but also summer pastures with free-range horses and fresh air, for every one's well-being.
This Model Event is a rehearsal for the five-day-long-O'Cerdanya race and it will be an opportunity to get accustomed to the typical grounds of this part of the Pyrenees.
Feel free to go up to the Bouillouses! Younger and older people, orienteers or nature-lovers will all enjoy themselves.

Acces:

• The Lac de Bouillouses is closed to traffic during the day and must be accessed by shuttle bus from the Pla de Barrès (GPS: 2°05’50/42°31’11) from 7h30 to 19h. (There is a large car park for the shuttle, opposite the camp site). Traffic is allowed again from about 20h.
• We recommend going up on the shuttle bus in the morning as early as possible (there's also less risk of storms in the morning) and coming down not too late, as queues can build up towards the end of the day. The last bus comes down around 21h. If this all sounds complicated, the area is well worth the effort.
• Signposted: from the roundabout at the turn-off to Mont-Louis.
• Note: if you haven't entered the training event, the shuttle bus costs a few euros (tickets on sale at a kiosk by the bus stop). It will not be possible to buy maps for the training event at the event centre on 10th August.

• Event format: start when you like (the start kite is by the bus stop on arriving at the Lac des Bouillouses). About twenty controls of varying technical difficulty are shown on the map. The controls will remain in place the following day (11th) but you'll have to pay for a bus ticket.
• Food available at the event area: Yes

About the map:

• To help legibility, only the more significant boulders and crags are shown on the map. Large boulders that are mostly buried may be represented with the “dot knoll” symbol.
• Rocky hills are often shown as just hills.

Terrain:

• Vegetation is 75% open or semi-open. The area is summer pasture for cattle and horses.
• The more technical part of the map is the wooded area, featuring lots of contour detail and boulders.
